Lorne Foster

Lorne Foster is a Professor of Public Policy and Human Rights at York University. He is the Director, Institute for Social Research (ISR) at York, which is a leading university-based survey research centre in Canada. He is York's past Academic Director, Statistics Canada Research Data Centre (RDC) and the inaugural Faculty Chair, Race Inclusion and Supportive Environments (RISE). He currently serves as York's Chair of the Community Safety Council (CSC) and is a member of the President's Advisory Committee on Human Rights (PACHR).

He has collaborated with communities and organizations in the not-for-profit, private, and wider public sectors on various equity initiatives and has consulted extensively on anti-racism, human rights, and equity issues with local and international governments. He is also the creator and Director of the Diversity & Human Rights Certificate (DHRC) in partnership with the national Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA), which is the first academic-industry partnership sponsored by a national regulatory organization.
