Kai Lai

Kai Lai works as the Equality Rights Representative in the Department of Global Affairs and Workplace Issues at the Canadian National Office of the United Steelworkers. He deals with human rights initiatives and policy, consults and advises on human rights language in collective bargaining, and intervenes in select internal union human rights disputes. In addition, Kai is an adult popular educator and designs and delivers union education in human rights and conflict resolution.

Kai's professional labour experience includes collective bargaining, arbitration, and a term as a Vice-President-at-Large of the Ontario Federation of Labour. He has done mandatory, community, and small claims court mediations and mediation in post-secondary institutions and organizational interventions. Kai has twice been a visiting professor of conflict resolution, as well as a convocation keynote speaker at the University of Ravensburg, Germany.

Kai holds an M.A. in Conflict Analysis and Management from Royal Roads University (2001).
