Peggy Nash

Peggy Nash is a Senior Advisor and Chair of the Advisory Committee of the Centre for Labour Management Relations at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University. She is a Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Faculties of Arts and Community Services who is focused on women's leadership. Peggy is a former Member of Parliament and Official Opposition Critic for Finance and Industry, a former New Democratic Party (NDP) President, and a former NDP leadership candidate.

Prior to being elected to office, she was a senior negotiator for the Canadian Auto Workers (now Unifor) and a long-time member of the Canadian Labour Congress Executive Committee. Peggy was the first woman to head auto talks from the union side at Ford Canada. She has bargained in both the public sector and private sector with airlines, hotels, universities, and community services. Peggy pioneered contract language in harassment and anti-violence and initiated programs and policies within her union on gender and human rights. She continues to facilitate trade union programs and run courses for women in politics both in Canada and internationally, and she is a frequent media commentator.
