Britt Skinner is the Director of Advocacy at the British Columbia General Employees’ Union (BCGEU) and a labour and human rights lawyer who was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2009. She leads one of British Columbia’s largest labour-side legal departments, representing more than 90,000 members across more than 550 bargaining units in the public and private sectors.

As Director of Advocacy, Britt works closely with BCGEU senior leadership to develop legal and strategic approaches that advance workers’ rights, strengthen collective bargaining, and promote equity and social justice. She leads a multidisciplinary team of advocates, lawyers, and legal professionals, overseeing representation in labour, human rights, privacy, and administrative law matters while helping shape the BCGEU’s broader advocacy strategy.

Britt has extensive experience representing the union in alternative dispute resolution and is known for her ability to help parties find common ground. She has also been a regular guest lecturer at the Peter A. Allard School of Law, sharing practical insights on labour law and workplace advocacy. Britt is passionate about developing strong advocates and advancing practical, principled solutions to complex workplace issues.
