Chris joined Lancaster as a research associate in 2023, with a professional background in publishing, journalism, and the labour movement. He completed his graduate studies in the department of politics at York University, with a focus on political communications theory. Outside of work, you can find him biking, hiking, or trekking the downtown constellation of used bookstores between Pandemonium and Book City.

Andrey joined Lancaster House in June of 2022. He graduated York University in 2017 with a B.A. in Liberal Arts and Professional Studies. Outside of work, Andrey enjoys being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Carol brings a solid record of results as a highly skilled and experienced Administrative and Labour Relations professional to her role in Sales & Marketing at Lancaster. With a passion for community building, Carol strives to strengthen the labour relations community one relationship at a time.

Colleen is a Web Designer and Developer at Lancaster House. She holds a Diploma in Digital Media Arts from Seneca College. Colleen has over 10 years’ experience in web design and development, with experience creating websites for companies ranging from small businesses to larger institutions such as banks and universities. In her free time, she enjoys painting, making jewellery, and going for picnics.

Allison is a Legal Director with Lancaster House. She obtained her Juris Doctor from Queen’s University and has experience working as a Manager of Environmental & Industrial Policy with the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters. She was previously a Content Development Lawyer with LexisNexis Canada, and is excited to be back in the world of publishing. In her spare time, Allison teaches Law and Ethics at Centennial College. Her claim to fame is that she has played for a university Quidditch team. She also avidly enjoys musical theatre and escape rooms.

A writer and editor at Lancaster House for over 20 years, Boris is managing editor of Leading Cases on Labour Arbitration, and has served as managing editor of the Canadian Labour and Employment Law Journal since 2003. In addition, he is a co-author of Lancaster’s Unionized Workplaces in Canada and Collective Bargaining Series. A member of the Bar of Ontario, Boris practised labour law for over 15 years, appearing before numerous boards of arbitration and other tribunals. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto, Queen’s University, and Osgoode Hall Law School.

Jessica is a Program Lawyer with Lancaster House. In her role, Jessica researches legal developments in labour, employment, and human rights law, prepares related materials, and assists in planning, preparing for, and running Lancaster’s conferences and webinars. Called to the Ontario Bar in 2018, Jessica articled with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s Legal Services Branch and practiced career law with KBA Partners LLP prior to joining Lancaster House.

Jessica obtained her Bachelor of Arts and Science from the University of Guelph and her law degree from Western University. In her spare time, she can be found spending time with family and friends, wondering how we can make the world a better place, and enjoying warm drinks, adventures in nature, and most puns.

Brittany is a Marketing and Production Coordinator at Lancaster House. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Brock University with a major in English literature and a double minor in Gender Studies and Philosophy. She completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Creative Book Publishing from Humber College in 2018 and worked at Emond Publishing as a Customer Service Representative/inside Sales Representative. She is an author of two self-published books of poetry and a parent to two furry friends Lia the Cockapoo and Louie the cat.

A graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, Paula was called to the Ontario Bar in 1995, having articled with a labour law firm in Toronto. After her call, Paula briefly worked for Lancaster House in 1996 as a legal editor, then went on to practise as an associate in law firms specialising in labour, employment and human rights law in Toronto, Ottawa and Sudbury. Paula also practiced for several years within the legal clinic system, in the areas of human rights, disability and employment-related litigation. Prior to re-joining Lancaster House, she practiced as a partner in her own employment and litigation law firm.

Leila is the Director of the Centre for Labour Relations Training and Development. Prior to stepping into the Director role, Leila worked as a Program Lawyer on the Conferences team. She joined Lancaster House in November 2023.

Leila was called to the Ontario Bar in 2020 and clerked at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Following her clerkship, Leila worked as a staff lawyer with the Community Justice Collective and union-side labour lawyer with Morrison Watts Labour and Employment Lawyers. Leila obtained her Bachelor of Arts & Science and Master of Arts from McMaster University, before going on to complete her law degree at the University of Victoria.

In her spare time, Leila enjoys reading, watching movies at the local cinema, checking out new restaurants with friends, and both literally and figuratively, running around the city.

As a Controller, Mary oversees all aspects of the accounting functions and payroll duties for Lancaster House. She previously worked with another book publishing company in various roles including General Accountant and Market Analyst. Mary received her Hons. B.Comm. from Laurentian University and her Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification with the National Payroll Institute. She is currently pursuing her Certified Payroll Manager Certification with the National Payroll Institute. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, fishing, and driving in the countryside.

Sachin is a Marketing and Production Coordinator at Lancaster House. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the University of Mumbai and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Publishing from Centennial College. Before joining Lancaster House, Sachin pursued internships at Penguin Random House Canada and Corporate Knights Magazine. He also gained experience designing accessible eBooks during his contract with Canadian Scholars and a freelance project for Drawn & Quarterly. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, camping, travelling, and reading.

Kait Kribs holds a PhD from the York University/TMU joint program in Communication and Culture, where she researched digitization, music industries, and creative labour. Prior to joining Lancaster, Kait worked as a Digital Research Communications Officer at Brock University, where she developed and facilitated cross-campus digital knowledge mobilization initiatives. She has previously taught courses in digital media and communications at York University, Sheridan College, and the George Brown College School of Design. Prior to working in academia, Kait was a freelance graphic designer, specializing in editorial layout and typography.

Andrew has a UK law degree and qualified as a barrister. In earlier lives he worked for Butterworth Law Publishers in England and then in Toronto. He was executive director of Access Copyright for several years and then GM of CanWest Interactive. From 2004 he ran a consulting business specializing in copyright, contracts and business development for media clients – including Lancaster House.

With an extensive background in human rights law, Misha is passionate about making workplaces more equitable and inclusive. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and a Dual Juris Doctor/Master of Arts from the University of Ottawa and the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs. In her spare time, Misha enjoys being in nature, scenic road trips, swimming, watching (long) cricket matches, and listening to audiobooks by global authors on social justice.

Peter is a Toronto-based employment lawyer (Ontario, 1996) and Senior Consulting Editor at Lancaster House. Peter is a lead author of Lancaster House’s eText on Wrongful Dismissal and Employment Law, published by Lancaster House and CanLII, and a co-author along with Jeffrey Sack, Q.C., of Lancaster House’s Collective Agreements in Canada: Law and Language. Before starting his own practice and assuming his current role with Lancaster House, Peter practised litigation for a number of years as an associate and partner in the Toronto office of McCarthy Tétrault LLP.

Cossette holds a Master of Arts in English from Carleton University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Book and Magazine Publishing from Centennial College. She has long held an interest in editorial work and the law’s connection to human rights. Before coming to Lancaster House in 2023, Cossette completed an internship with Emond Publishing and volunteered with the Innocence Project at Osgoode Hall Law School for two consecutive summers. Outside of work, she loves musicals, horror movies, and annual marathons of the Lord of the Rings.

Makila joined Lancaster House in January of 2020 as a Client Service and Database Representative. She graduated from York University in June of 2019, with a B.A., Honours degree in International Development Studies. In her free time, she enjoys baking, travelling, and reading.

Monica joined Lancaster House as a Research Associate in 2021. She holds a PhD in Human Geography from Laurier University and a Master’s degree from Queen’s University of Belfast. She has vast experience in conducting different types of research, qualitative and quantitative; and enjoys exploring new ways to obtain and analyse data. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her family, reading, and travelling back to Mexico, where she’s originally from.

Jeffrey Sack, K.C. practices labour law and acts as a union nominee on interest arbitration boards. As a litigator he argued the Lavigne case in the Supreme Court of Canada, which upheld the constitutional validity of the Rand (agency) formula and (contrary to U.S. jurisprudence) confirmed the right of unions to use union dues for political causes. He also argued the first case upholding the right to strike under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which was relied upon by the Supreme Court of Canada in its recent Saskatchewan Federation of Labour decision.

As a negotiator, Jeffrey has bargained with the government for physicians, and with hospitals for residents. As a union nominee on interest arbitration boards he has represented, among others, firefighters, college and university faculty, and health care support staff. As an adjunct professor, he lectures on international labour law at the University of Toronto and acts as Associate Editor of the Canadian Labour and Employment Law Journal.

Jeffrey is the recipient of the Gérard Dion Award from the Canadian Industrial Relations Association (CIRA) for outstanding contributions to Canadian labour law and the Bora Laskin Award from the University of Toronto Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources.

Caitlin Selman joined Lancaster House in 2018. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University with majors in Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, and Applied Communication and a minor in Art History. She also holds an Advanced TESOL Certificate as an instructor for young students and has taught English as a Second Language (ESL) in South Korea. Having grown up on Lake Simcoe, Caitlin is an avid fan of the outdoors and its beautiful waterscapes. She is a proud breast cancer survivor and an advocate for well-being and mental health.

Jacqui joined Lancaster House in 2019. She has a B.A. in Economics from Queen’s University and earned her law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School. A former lawyer, she worked in the non-profit sector for over 20 years as a communications and engagement director before joining the Lancaster team. In her free time, Jacqui can be found digging in her garden, baking, and camping waaaay up north.

Patti joined Lancaster House in 2023. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and later went on to study Web Design at McMaster CCE. In her spare time, Patti enjoys finding new and old music, attending concerts and musicals, playing guitar, karaoke, coding, learning languages, urban hiking, and spending time with her pet rabbit Coco.

Christine joined Lancaster House in 2021. She earned a BA in Foreign Languages from Bishop’s University before moving to Switzerland to teach English as a second language for four years. On her return to Canada, a lucky break landed her a job in Customer Service, Training and eventually Sales at Quicklaw, Canada’s first online legal publisher. That break has led to a long career with various roles in sales and sales management for legal publishing and technology firms, always with a focus on helping people do their work better. At Lancaster House, Christine leads the teams responsible for Customer Service, Sales, Marketing and Conference Production. In her spare time, Christine enjoys cooking, stand-up comedy and she can often be found walking her Husky, Doberman or Dachshund – yes, she lives in a Zoo!
