Ashley Hamp-Gonsalves is a partner at Burchell Wickwire Bryson (BWB) LLP, practising in litigation, administrative law, employment law, and Aboriginal law. She received her Juris Doctor from the Schulich School of Law in 2014. In 2024, Ashley was named a Lexpert Rising Star: Leading Lawyers under 40.

Ashley has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal, the New Brunswick Court of Appeal, Federal Court, and Nova Scotia Supreme Court. Ashley’s administrative law practice includes judicial review, human rights, and professional regulation matters. Ashley has appeared before various administrative tribunals, including the Nova Scotia Police Review Board and Human Rights Boards of Inquiry.  Ashley’s employment law practice includes advising both Indigenous and non-Indigenous employers and employees. She is also an active member of the firm’s workplace investigations team.

Ashley is the chair of BWB’s Equity and Diversity Committee, co-chair of Regulatory Committees for the Nova Scotia College of Nurses, chair of the Registration Committee and Licensing Review Committee for the Nova Scotia Pharmacy Regulator, a part-time faculty member at the Schulich School of Law, and a law program committee member with the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF).
