Chantelle MacDonald Newhook, K.C., Q.Arb. Vice-chair of the Newfoundland and Labrador Labour Relations Board, is also a private arbitrator, mediator, and independent workplace investigator with private and public sector clients across Canada. Chantelle spent a decade in private sector business and seventeen years with the Department of Justice in NL, where she was a litigator and government’s first dedicated labour and employment lawyer. She appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada in the landmark Saskatchewan “Right to Strike” case, was Assistant Deputy Minister, Legal Services (Civil Division), and Assistant Deputy Minister, Human Resources, leading the employment, labour and human resource legal files and policy development across government. Chantelle is an internationally published legal writer and author. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Todd, their two grown sons, and two beagles.
