Daria Strachan practices with the law firm of Shields Hunt Duff Strachan, particularly in the areas of employment law, labour law, human rights, administrative law, and civil and commercial litigation. She has a wide range of advocacy experience at trial and appellate levels of the provincial and federal courts and also appears before various administrative tribunals. Prior to rejoining Shields Hunt Duff Strachan, Daria worked at a large, full-service law firm in Toronto and in Ottawa, and at the Department of Justice Canada.
In addition to her law practice, Daria is an experienced Workplace Investigator, as well as a Vice-Chair with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeal Tribunal (WSIAT). She volunteers with Pro Bono Ontario and with Reach Canada, helping people with disabilities and limited financial means to access justice. She has also taught Civil Procedure as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law (common law).
Daria is fluent in both English and French, holding an LL.B. in Common Law from Queen’s University and an LL.B. in Civil Law from L’Université de Sherbrooke. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2001.
