Jairo Yunis is Director of Policy at the Business Council of British Columbia, where he leads the organization’s Productivity Project and works across labour, fiscal, and trade policy. He holds a Bachelor of Political Science and International Relations from the Pontifical Xaverian University of Colombia and a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Calgary. Jairo previously served as Director of B.C. and Western Economic Policy at the Canadian Federation of Independent Business and as an Energy Policy Analyst at the Fraser Institute. Before emigrating to Canada in 2018, he held government roles in Colombia focused on energy markets and competitiveness. His commentary has appeared in major media outlets like the Financial Post and the Globe and Mail.
