Kara O’Halloran became Chivers Carpenter’s managing partner following Madam Justice Kristan McLeod’s appointment to the Alberta Court of King’s Bench.

Kara began working at Chivers Carpenter as a summer student during law school and then went on to article with the firm in 2004. Kara became a partner in 2011. Kara has participated in numerous Labour Board and arbitration hearings and has written legal opinions and briefs on a wide variety of topics. She has also appeared before the Appeals Commission and frequently makes submissions to the Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB). She has given presentations at conferences and seminars on such topics as personal appearance in the workplace, the wearing of union insignia, social networking, harassment in the workplace, and the history of women in the trade union movement in Canada.

Kara has always been interested in practising in the area of labour as she comes from a family with a rich trade union background. Her interests include reading, traveling, crafts, and spending time with her family.
