Kat Leonard is a national representative with Unifor coming out of the media sector. Initially hired by CityTV in general production, through a series of corporate acquisitions she landed in accessibility doing closed captioning and described video at CTV Bell Media. She has a Certificate in Labour Law from Osgoode Hall Law School and has participated as an activist in numerous campaigns for workers’ rights, human rights, and policy reform. Kat currently represents union members in collective bargaining, grievance handling, arbitrations, and labour relations covering a variety of workplaces from both private and the broader public sectors including warehousing, manufacturing, energy, facility operations, hospitality, and aerospace. Kat was thrilled to be a participant of the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference 2026 where she represented labour in a study group exploring Canada’s sustainable prosperity through Newfoundland and Labrador.
