Katie Roebothan is a labour and employment lawyer with over 15 years of experience, primarily representing employers. Called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2010, Katie currently serves as a litigator with the Labour, Employment and Human Rights team at the Nova Scotia Department of Justice, where she provides strategic, advisory, and advocacy services to various government departments and public entities on a wide range of legal and workplace issues.
Throughout her career, Katie has represented employers before arbitrators, a variety of administrative tribunals, and courts. She regularly advocates on behalf of her clients in matters relating to grievance arbitration, human rights, occupational health and safety, wrongful dismissal, and workers’ compensation claims.
Katie’s prior roles before joining the Nova Scotia Department of Justice include nearly a decade (2010 to 2019) as a lawyer in the Labour and Employment Group at McInnes Cooper in Halifax, followed by her time (2019 to 2021) as a lawyer with the Office of the Employer Advisor, delivering practical guidance and representation to employers across the province of Nova Scotia.
Katie holds a Bachelor of Music (Voice) from Memorial University and a Master of Business Administration from Saint Mary’s University. She attended law school at the University of New Brunswick where she graduated with her law degree in 2009.
