Michael Conlon is the Executive Director of the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators of British Columbia (FPSE). FPSE is B.C.’s largest post-secondary education labour organization with 18 member associations and close to 10,000 members. Prior to his appointment at FPSE, Michael served as the Executive Director of the British Columbia Institute of Technology’s Faculty and Staff Association (FSA). Michael joined the FSA from his role as Executive Director of the Ontario Confederation of Faculty Associations (OCUFA). OCUFA represents over 30 faculty associations and 18,000 members and supports members in all aspects of labour relations, external communication, and grievance handling. Michael has also served as Executive Director of the Confederation of University Faculty Associations of British Columbia (CUFA BC) and during his tenure with CUFA BC he served as University of British Columbia’s representative on the interest arbitration panel related to the 2014 round of bargaining. Michael also has numerous refereed publications on academic governance, academic freedom, collective bargaining, and student financial assistance and is regularly requested to speak on these topics. Michael holds a Ph.D. in English literature and has taught at Carleton University and the University of Victoria as a contract instructor.
