Samara Barak is a Senior Advisor, Employee Relations at York University, where she is responsible for providing advice and guidance on six non-academic collective agreements, covering more than 5,000 unionized employees. Samara holds a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies, specializing in Human Resources Management from the University of Western Ontario (2012).
In her role, Samara is responsible for administering collective agreements represented by six unions, including Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), York University Staff Association, and International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE). Samara works in support of the management community and is responsible for ensuring appropriate interpretation and application of all non-academic collective agreements and employment legislation by establishing and maintaining effective relationships with the management community and providing them with expert advice and counsel to ensure compliance and promote positive employee relations. Samara has over 13 years of human resources and labour relations experience at large organizations within the private and broader public sectors, including CBC, Accenture, and Woodbine Entertainment Group.
