Steven Gaon is a bilingual mediator and arbitrator with an extensive legal background, primarily as a civil and family law litigator, but also administrative law and solicitor’s work. Called to the Bar in 1989 and practising dispute resolution since 1998, Mr. Gaon founded ADR Ottawa Inc. in 2003. He has mediated thousands of legal and non-legal disputes. Mr. Gaon was awarded a Chartered Mediator designation by the ADR Institute of Canada in 2008. He is also an experienced arbitrator, having arbitrated and adjudicated a wide variety of legal cases. Additionally, Mr. Gaon is a recognized and trusted workplace investigator, conducting administrative investigations into numerous forms of alleged misconduct.
Mr. Gaon has also been highly engaged in Ottawa’s legal community. He has served as an elected member of the Board of Trustees of the County of Carleton Law Association (CCLA) from 2009 to 2017, and as CCLA President in 2015 to 2016. Mr. Gaon has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Common Law since 2018. He has also frequently delivered seminars on legal and dispute resolution matters, and has appeared as an expert witness before a House of Commons Standing Committee and a provincial inquiry commission.
