Arbitration Practice
Jim has acted as an arbitrator for over 25 years in Alberta, western Canada, and the north in both provincial and federal jurisdictions. He has issued over 150 labour arbitration and labour relations board decisions.
Background
Jim was a lawyer at Field Law for 35 years in Edmonton, Alberta before retiring from the Firm on December 31, 2023 to establish his own independent labour arbitration and mediation practice.

Standard Fees for Cancellation
No cancellation fee is charged if notification is received more than one month in advance. If notification is received less than 1 month in advance, then cancellation fee is $1500 per hearing day split between the parties.

Jim is appointed to the Government of Alberta Grievance Arbitration roster and Grievance Mediation roster. He is also appointed to numerous panels of arbitrators under collective agreements.

Jim is also the author or co-author of 4 other books in the area of professional regulation and administrative law. His most recent book is The Law of Regulatory Investigations in Canada published in 2023 with co-authors Jason Kully and Michelle Casey. His books have been cited in hundreds of Court and tribunal decisions including the Supreme Court of Canada.
