Heather Hoiness is counsel to the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal. Previously, she was a staff lawyer at B.C.’s Office of the Human Rights Commissioner (BCOHRC), where her work focused on representing the Commissioner as an intervenor and contributing to the development of public legal education materials. Before joining BCOHRC, Heather worked at Moore Edgar Lyster LLP where she practised in the areas of union-side labour, human rights, and professional regulation. Heather holds a J.D. from the University of Saskatchewan, as well as a B.A. and B.S.W. from McGill University. She clerked at the B.C. Court of Appeal in 2013 to 2014. Prior to law school, Heather worked for over a decade in community organizations serving people living with HIV/AIDS, immigrant and refugee families, and women in conflict with the law.
