Anna Turcza-Karhut is the leader of the City of Edmonton’s Labour and Employment Legal Team and advises on all aspects of labour and employment law. Anna also practises in the areas of commercial arbitrations, civil litigation, and construction law. Anna has appeared before the Alberta Court of Appeal, the Alberta Court of King’s Bench, and has sought leave with the Supreme Court of Canada.
Anna is an experienced adjudicator. She was appointed to the Alberta Board of Reference, where she hears appeals of terminations and suspensions of teachers. Anna also adjudicates professional disciplinary hearings with the Real Estate Council of Alberta and is the chair of the City of Edmonton’s Driving Incident Review Board.
After graduating from the University of Alberta Law School in 2008, Anna clerked with the Alberta Court of King’s Bench. In 2022, Anna was awarded the Lexpert Rising Stars Leading Lawyers under 40 Award, a national award. Between 2018 and 2025, Anna was the co-chair and vice-chair of the Canadian Bar Association Civil Litigation Section, Northern Alberta. Anna has presented to the Canadian Bar Association on a variety of topics.
