Lani deHek is a Registered Nurse, Certified Disability Management Professional, and Auditor for the Consensus Based Disability Management Audit through the National Institute for Disability Management and Research (NIDMAR). She has over 35 years’ experience in the health sector, focusing the last 20 years on disability management and supporting ill and injured healthcare workers to allow them to stay connected to the workplace. Lani is the Manager, Disability Management and Health & Safety with the BC Nurses’ Union where her team supports 48,000 nurses across the province through the Enhanced Disability Management Program (EDMP) and with WCB and LTD appeals. She is currently on a 15-month secondment with NIDMAR, lending her experience to implement the Workforce Development Agreement (WDA grant) which provides a range of initiatives for BC residents and organizations to improve Return to Work and Accommodation results under the BC Government’s Poverty Reduction Strategy.

Lani is passionate about improving outcomes for workers with disabilities and is excited to share her knowledge implementing and managing a collaborative disability management program to support this work. In addition, Lani serves on the Board of the Canadian Society of Professionals in Disability Management and the National Advisory Committee for the Work Wellness Institute.
