Leanne Young, KC, is a Harvard trained chartered arbitrator and mediator with over 20 years of comprehensive experience. Ms. Young’s expertise spans a wide range of legal domains including labour and employment, contract, insurance, real estate, construction, taxation, and immigration. Her practice is distinguished by her meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical acumen, ensuring effective resolution of complex legal issues either as a neutral in mediation or in written decisions as an arbitrator or adjudicator. Over the past two decades, Ms. Young has skillfully navigated disputes, either in person or via zoom, ranging from individual conflicts to intricate matters involving multiple parties.

As the principal chartered arbitrator and mediator at Resolve ADR since 2011, Ms. Young has been instrumental in facilitating successful outcomes through a variety of alternative dispute resolution strategies designed to provide her clients with comprehensive solutions tailored to their unique needs. Ms. Young has worked internationally in the United Kingdom as well as in the United States and across Canada where she has conducted hundreds of hearings as the sole decision maker in the first instance and on appeal as well as a panel board chair.

Prior to her role at Resolve ADR, Ms. Young served as Legal Counsel and Negotiated Settlement Team Lead at the Department of Justice Canada for over a decade. During her tenure, she represented Canada in hundreds of hearings and negotiated settlements. Recognized for her expertise in, and commitment to, the law, Ms. Young was awarded the prestigious King’s Counsel (KC) designation in 2013. Professionally, Ms. Young is actively involved in various professional associations including the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, ADR Institute of Alberta, ADR Institute of Canada, Canadian Institute of Administrative Tribunals, Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice, Law Society of Alberta, International Association for Conflict Management, and the Association for Conflict Resolution. Ms. Young also serves as the vice-chair of the Board of Directors of the Legal Archives Society of Alberta and holds a position on the Board of Directors for the Alberta Pianofest Society.
