Carissa Tanzola is a partner with Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti LLP who practises in all areas of labour and employment law. Prior to joining the firm, she spent almost a decade at a Toronto boutique firm, and from 2017 to 2019, she served as a vice-chair at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT). Carissa regularly advises employers in all industries and sectors with respect to wrongful dismissal litigation, grievance arbitration, human rights complaints, workplace accidents, occupational health and safety, workplace investigations, and all aspects of workers’ compensation claims management, including appeals to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and the WSIAT. She has also dealt extensively with workplace compensation account management, including rating analysis and classification appeals.
Since 2009, Carissa has been an active member of the Ontario Bar Association Labour and Employment Section and, in 2014 to 2015 and 2019 to 2020, was chair of the Section. She has written and lectured on a variety of employment and labour issues.
Carissa holds a B.A. from Western University and an LL.B. from the University of Ottawa. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2008.
