Chantelle MacDonald Newhook, K.C., Q.Arb., vice-chair of the Newfoundland and Labrador Labour Relations Board, is also a private arbitrator, mediator, and independent workplace investigator with private and public sector clients across Canada. Chantelle spent a decade in private sector business and 17 years with the Department of Justice in N.L., where she was a litigator and the government’s first dedicated labour and employment lawyer. She appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada in the landmark Saskatchewan “Right to Strike” case, was Assistant Deputy Minister, Legal Services (Civil Division), and Assistant Deputy Minister, Human Resources, leading the employment, labour, and human resource legal files and policy development across government. Chantelle is also an internationally published legal writer and author.
