Cheryl Yingst Bartel, B.A., L.L.B., L.L.M. (Lab. Rel. & Empl.), has been arbitrating labour disputes for more than a dozen years, as part of a 35-year career in conflict resolution. She is a former litigator with an international law firm, with experience before all levels of the judiciary, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Cheryl runs a full-time practice as a labour arbitrator and grievance mediator. She holds appointments to both federal and provincial rosters, and has experience in the public and private sectors and in all formats (in-person, hybrid, and virtual). Cheryl is also very familiar with med-arb and expedited processes. Cheryl holds an appointment as the Western Arbitrator for the Canadian Railway Office of Arbitration’s expedited process (CROA). She also adjudicates ad hoc for that industry.

Cheryl enjoys presenting on current issues and has been actively involved with the Calgary Labour Arbitration and Policy Conference for many years, covering all roles.
