Chris Hattie currently serves as Associate Vice-President (AVP) of People and Culture at Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU), located in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

As MSVU’s first AVP of People and Culture, Chris oversees the Department of Human Resources, and the Office of Equity, Indigenous Relations and Human Rights. His work focuses on supporting the university’s most valuable resource — its people — which includes promoting a culture that upholds the university’s strong commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA). In his role, Chris supports positive labour relations across six employee groups and is actively involved in a number of mediation and workplace facilitation initiatives.

Chris previously worked at MSVU as Manager of Academic Relations and as Manager of Human Resources before joining Dalhousie University, where he was a member of the Human Resources senior leadership team from 2017 to 2024. At Dalhousie he served as Director of Employee Relations and subsequently served both as the Acting Assistant Vice-President of Human Resources for Dalhousie, as well as their Director of Employee Experience.

Chris is a graduate of the Master of Industrial Relations program at Queen’s University and holds a certificate in Organizational Development Fundamentals from the Queen’s Industrial Relations Centre.
