Christine Johnson is a lawyer at Champ & Associates, an Ottawa firm specializing in the areas of labour & employment, human rights, and public interest law. She has appeared as counsel or co-counsel before all levels of court, including the Federal Court of Appeal, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, and the Supreme Court of Canada. She regularly represents clients in matters before administrative boards and tribunals and also has experience participating in inquests and public inquiries.
Christine provides empathetic, clear, and steady guidance in high-stakes and often deeply personal matters. She advises and represents individuals who have experienced sexual violence, harassment, and gender-based discrimination. As a roster lawyer with the Independent Legal Advice (ILA) Voucher Program delivered by the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic, she offers trauma-informed legal advice to adult survivors of sexual violence. She is a frequent speaker at conferences and in the media on human rights-related issues.
Christine is committed to mentorship and to strengthening the profession. She serves as the Law Society of Ontario’s representative on the provincial Judicial Appointments Advisory Committee and has been a mentor and assessor with the Law Practice Program at Toronto Metropolitan University for several years.
Christine holds a B.A. from Dalhousie University and a J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2012.
