Dan Scott is the managing partner at the law firm Seveny Scott Lawyers where he advises and represents unions and associations on all labour relations matters before labour relations boards, arbitrators, and the courts. He also advises and represents individual employees in all aspects of employment law, including wrongful and constructive dismissal claims, fiduciary duty issues, confidential information, non-competition/non-solicitation agreements, and injunction matters.

Dan has appeared as counsel before the Alberta and British Columbia Labour Relations Boards, numerous arbitrators, Police Act disciplinary tribunals, the Law Enforcement Review Board, RCMP Conduct Hearings, a Dispute Inquiry Board, various interest arbitrators, all levels of court in Alberta, and the Supreme Court of Canada.

Dan taught Employment Law at the University of Alberta Law School from 2003 to 2017 where he received the Faculty of Law Sessional Teaching Excellence Award. He has been recognized in The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory as a leading practitioner in employment law, and by his peers in The Best Lawyers in Canada® for his work in labour and employment law. He was selected by his peers as the 2021 Best Lawyers in Canada “Lawyer of the Year” for labour and employment law (Edmonton). Dan was appointed as Queen’s Counsel in April 2022, and became King’s Counsel on September 9, 2022.
