David Jewitt is an arbitrator, a mediator, and a workplace investigator. Prior to becoming a neutral, he practised labour and human rights law for 30 years, representing clients in the private and public sector at all levels of adjudication including mediation, arbitration, provincial and federal labour relations boards, and human rights tribunals and in related litigation in the court system.

In 1991, David was a founding partner of one of Ottawa’s first specialized labour relations and human rights law firms, Raven, Jewitt & Allen. In 1997, he founded the Ottawa labour law firm Jewitt McLuckie & Associates and was consistently rated one of the “Best Labour Lawyers in Canada” in The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory until his retirement from private practice in 2018.

In 2000, after an intense professional appearance at the OC Transpo Inquest, David began to study yoga and meditation. He then taught yoga for 14 years and studied with teachers in India and Tibet.

David’s law and meditation practices merged in 2017 when he co-facilitated the workshop “The Mindful Lawyer – Ethics and Mindfulness in the Practice of Law,” which is a Law Society CPD accredited course.
