David Law is the founder of Law at Work, a firm offering advice and advocacy in matters of personnel management and board governance. He serves as general counsel for non-profit organizations and has appeared before tribunals and courts of all levels, including the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada, in the areas of employment, labour, human rights, occupational safety, and workers’ compensation law.
David is a sessional professor at the Queen’s University Faculty of Law and earlier taught for the Sprott and Rotman Schools of Business. He has worked as a public prosecutor of occupational health and safety cases and as an adjudicator of workers’ compensation appeals. David was a policy advisor to governments in Ontario, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia and chaired the government relations committees for the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario and the Canadian Council of Human Resources Professionals. He is also the Chair of the Ottawa Food Bank.
David holds a B.A. in History and Political Science from the University of Toronto and an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School (1986). He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1988.
