David Yazbeck is the Director, Collective Bargaining and Compensation Services with the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC). In this role, he directs the Collective Bargaining and Compensation sections of PIPSC, the latter of which includes classification, pensions, pay equity, pay and benefits, and related matters. David currently sits on the Public Service Pension Advisory Committee. Prior to assuming this role at PIPSC, David was a senior partner with a leading union-side labour law firm for 29 years, practicing exclusively in the areas of labour relations, human rights, judicial review and appeals, with emphasis on the federal public sector. He has particular expertise in the area of whistleblower law and is a member of the Centre for Free Expression Whistleblowing Initiatives Steering Committee. David was selected as a bargaining agent member of the Public Servants Protections Disclosure Act Review Task Force reviewing the legislation and making recommendations for improvement. He is also a Board Director of the Workers’ History Museum and CAPSA, which promotes substance use health. David is a former board director with Copyright Visual Arts/Droits d’auteur Arts visuels, Canadian Artists’ Representation/Le Front des artistes canadiens, and several other arts organizations as well as a former producer/host on CKCU-FM. He often speaks on labour, human rights, and whistleblowing issues.
