Dawn began her working life at Memorial University of Newfoundland, immediately upon completion of her Bachelor of Arts. She currently works for the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) as the Atlantic Region Human Rights Representative. CUPEs Atlantic Region encompasses both Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia. As the regional Human Rights representative Dawn advises both CUPE staff and members on all aspects of Human Rights. Prior to assuming the Human Rights role, Dawn spent about 15 years as a National Representative, responsible for, among other things, bargaining, grievance handling and arbitration for approximately 20 CUPE locals.
In addition to her Human Rights work, Dawn is also a member of the Board of Directors of Provident 10, which administers the Newfoundland and Labrador Public Service Pension Plan. She is chair of the Pension Investment Committee and has been involved with the pension plan since 2008. Dawn is also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission of Newfoundland and Labrador where she sat on both the Finance Committee and the Investment Sub-Committee.
Dawn lives in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, with her partner, three children, and dog.
