Dr. Renée-Louise Franche, Clinical Psychologist, is a consultant in Work Ability Promotion and Organizational Health, for private insurance companies, health authorities, unions, and universities. With a solid background as a clinician, manager, and researcher, she previously was at WorkSafeBC where she was first a Psychology Advisor, and then a Senior Manager of Mental Health Services, overseeing the work of all Psychology Advisors. Prior to this, she held clinical and adjunct academic roles in Perinatology, Rehabilitation, and Organ Transplant Units. She was a scientist at the Institute for Work & Health in Toronto, and later director of Disability Research at the Occupational Health and Safety for Healthcare. She holds an adjunct professor position at the UBC School of Population and Public Health and is an adjunct scientist at the Institute for Work & Health in Toronto.
Dr. Franche’s work focuses on the intersection of mental health and the workplace, blending a focus on individual health within the larger scope of organizational culture. She is invested in preventing traumatization, supporting fair return-to-work practices, and promoting healthy and forward-thinking organizational change.
As a researcher, Dr. Franche has led several systematic reviews including reviews of gender differences in work absence and of work disability in rural areas. With over 50 peer-reviewed publications, her work has been influential in the development of innovative policies and best practices in the insurance world and workplaces. Throughout her career, Dr. Franche has been committed to humanize workers’ interactions with systems such as insurance companies, workers’ compensation systems, healthcare, and workplaces.
