Elisa Scali is a partner in GowlingWLG’s Ottawa office, a member of the firm’s national Employment, Labour & Equalities (ELE) Practice Group and the leader of the ELE Ottawa team. In 28 years of practice, Elisa has acted as a trusted adviser to a broad range of employers, from locally owned businesses, national not-for-profit associations to multinational organizations.

Elisa works closely with clients to provide practical solutions to manage and minimize employment-related legal risks and ensure clients are and remain fully compliant with employment laws. She regularly provides advice to employers on all aspects of the employment relationship, including recruitment and hiring protocols, employment agreements, incentive compensation plans, non-solicitation agreements, confidentiality and intellectual property agreements, termination advice and strategy, employee performance management and discipline, employee absence management, disability management and accommodation, human rights and equality issues, workplace violence and harassment, workplace investigations, and incidents and accessibility.

Elisa also assists clients with investigations into workplace misconduct, including harassment, discrimination, and other policy violations. Elisa integrates her litigation expertise and extensive knowledge of employment law, to conduct impartial, thorough, and legally sound investigations and deliver clear and concise reporting to our clients. Elisa has extensive experience in mediation, and she also advocates for clients at all levels of court within Ontario as well as before the Human Rights Tribunal and Ministry of Labour. If a dispute arises, clients can rely on Elisa to represent them resolutely in the defence of legal proceedings but also explore resolution in a pragmatic and strategic manner.
