Esi Codjoe is a workplace lawyer and partner at Turnpenney Milne LLP. She provides employment law and human rights advice to employers and employees, conducts investigations and training, and mediates employment and human rights disputes. Immediately prior to joining the firm, Esi was a Vice-Chair at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. Her background includes teaching business law and employment and labour law at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), as well as labour relations at George Brown College. She also served as legal counsel for employee and labour relations at McMaster University and legal counsel at the Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA).

Esi was an executive member of the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) Labour and Employment Law Section and the former editor of the Canadian Bar Association Labour and Employment Law Section newsletter. She has served on numerous OBA committees, including serving as Chair of the Equality Committee, Governance Committee member, and Awards Committee member. Esi was elected as the Toronto Regional Representative on the OBA’s Board of Directors.

Esi holds a B.A. (Hons.) from York University (1999), an LL.B. from Queen’s University (2003), and an LL.M. from Osgoode Hall Law School (2012). She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2004.
