Gavin Leeb recently joined the University of Toronto Faculty Association (UTFA) as General Counsel. Previously, Gavin was the National Director of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Legal Department, a position he has held since 2016. He started with CUPE in 2008 as a Legal & Legislative Representative, where he represented the union in arbitration hearings, labour board proceedings, and Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario matters and before the Courts.
Prior to CUPE, Gavin was in private practice as a sole practitioner for over five years. Before attending law school, he was a Grievance Officer with the Ontario Public Sector Employees Union (OPSEU) where he represented the union in numerous arbitration hearings and before other administrative tribunals.
Gavin holds an M.I.R. and an LL.B. from the University of Toronto and a B.A. (C. Hons.) from McMaster University. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2002.
