She/Her

Georgina Watts has represented trade unions since her call to the Bar in 1992, both in private practice and as senior legal counsel to the largest private sector union in Ontario. As lead counsel at United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Locals 175 and 633 for 12 years, she led a busy department, with appearances at arbitrations, negotiations, labour boards, and other administrative tribunals, and the courts.

In 2007, Georgina left the union to commence private practice, joining forces with Craig Morrison to form Morrison Watts, where she continues to represent unions and employees. Their practice is restricted to labour, employment, human rights, and disability law on behalf of trade unions and individuals. In addition, Georgina regularly appears as union side nominee at arbitration, and conducts educational seminars for union representatives and stewards.

For seven years, Georgina co-chaired The Six Minute Labour Lawyer, an annual educational seminar presented by the Law Society of Upper Canada for labour law practitioners. She also regularly presents papers and participates in panel discussions on labour relations, human rights, and employment matters.

Since its inception in 2014, Georgina has chaired a community committee that runs the Sue Deacon Cup, an annual hockey tournament aimed at raising awareness and funds for Ovarian Cancer Canada. This rag tag group of family and friends of Sue Deacon has raised over $500,000 which has gone directly to a research fund administered by Ovarian Cancer Canada and named in Sue’s honour.
