James Farrell is a solicitor and IRO Director with the Fish, Food and Allied Workers–Unifor (FFAW–Unifor) in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, where he represents members in fish processing plants and in the industrial, retail, and offshore sectors. He advises on all areas of labour law, including discipline and discharge matters, collective bargaining, pensions and benefits, workplace investigations, and disability management. He has appeared before provincial and appellate courts and has experience in grievance arbitration as well as a range of federal and provincial regulatory proceedings.
James holds a B.Comm. (Co op) and a B.A. in Political Science from Memorial University and a J.D. from the University of Calgary. He is a regional vice president of the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers and regularly presents at national conferences on labour law and employment relations. James is also active in his community and plays trumpet in the Gower Community Band.
