James Suderman joined the Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC) in the summer of 2018. HEABC is the employer bargaining agent for BC’s Health Authorities and affiliate health employers. Prior to joining HEABC, James worked as a litigator at a leading national law firm in Vancouver, BC.
James currently serves as Executive Director, Negotiations and Member Services. He is responsible for overseeing the negotiation and implementation of HEABC’s six provincial health sector collective agreements, leading a team that provides strategic, legal and labour relations advice to HEABC’s membership, and working closely with stakeholders on other important provincial initiatives. In 2023, James acted as Lead Spokesperson for BC’s health authorities and affiliate employers, culminating in the 2022-25 Nurses’ Provincial Collective Agreement covering approximately 50,000 nurses in BC.
James holds a B.A. from the University of Alberta, and a J.D. from the University of Victoria. In his spare time, you might find James playing backyard soccer with his two young kids, out on his road bike or skiing at Mount Washington.
