Jeanie Theoharis is the Associate Chair of the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, former Associate Chair of the Fire Safety Commission and Animal Care Review Board, and current vice-chair of the Ontario Civilian Police Commission, Licence Appeal Tribunal, Landlord and Tenant Board, Animal Care Review Board, and Fire Safety Commission. She was a former vice chair of the Ontario Parole Board.

Ms. Theoharis is a strategic leader with proven development and execution of projects. She has experience in developing, mentoring, and expanding teams, creating lean processes, change management and delivering on objectives. She is an effective communicator with an ability to motivate and empower teams to build expertise, confidence, and effective results. As an active listener she has played a major role in building stakeholder relations and developing processes that are fair, effective, transparent, and accessible.

Ms. Theoharis is a lawyer with specialized knowledge in human rights, administrative, and regulatory law. Having served on a number of administrative tribunals, she has gained extensive experience interpreting and adjudicating over 40 different legislations. She was first appointed as an adjudicator in 2006 as a member and has gained extensive adjudication, administrative law, and alternative dispute resolution. Prior to adjudication, Jeanie articled in a criminal defence firm, and thereafter was an associate at a Toronto boutique firm practicing in corporate commercial, real estate, construction lien and immigration law.

She attended University of Toronto, Trinity College and Faculty of Law, and State University of New York, successfully obtaining a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Laws and Juris Doctorate in Law, and has been called to the bars of Ontario and New York. She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Society of Ontario Adjudicators and Regulators.

Her community involvement includes serving on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Peel Region, Chair of the Community Investment Cabinet, Board of Directors for the Hellenic Canadian Lawyers’ Association, the UW of Greater Toronto’s Management Advisory Group, and regularly volunteers with Helping Others Prophet Elias. She has also participated as an assessor for the Law Practice Program at Ryerson University, and actively presents sessions on regulatory and administrative law.
