Krista Smith is the founder of Root & Branch – Workplace Conflict Resolutions Inc. (rbworkplace.ca), which seeks to help organizations prevent, navigate, and recover from moments of workplace conflict and crisis. Krista works with organizations in every economic sector to help them create stronger and more functional workplace communities, which leads to improved productivity. Krista practised labour and employment law for 10 years. She also is a certified workplace investigator. Krista conducts investigations and assessments that are independent and defensible. Over the years, Krista has refined her processes to ensure they are trauma-informed and afford the parties dignity and maximum procedural protections.

For the past two years, Krista has been a full-time senior policy lawyer with the Mass Casualty Commission, where she focused on organizational responses during and after the mass casualty, including the effects of workplace culture on critical incident decision-making and the coordination of services between agencies.

Krista is currently completing an LLM at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University, with a focus on theories of accountability. Krista also holds an LL.B. from Schulich School of Law, an M.A. in Journalism from Indiana University, and a B.A. from the University of California, Riverside.
