Leanne Young, KC, serves as a mediator, chartered arbitrator, and adjudicator, with extensive experience acting as a neutral in administrative and dispute‑resolution matters. Harvard-trained in mediation and negotiation, she has worked internationally in the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as across Canada, presiding over hundreds of hearings as a sole decision maker, panel chair, and appellate adjudicator. Her practice focuses on labour and employment, administrative law, and sports dispute resolution.
Ms. Young holds arbitrator designations from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), the ADR Institute of Canada (ADRIC), and the ADR Institute of Alberta (ADRIA).
Before founding Resolve ADR, Ms. Young spent more than a decade with the Department of Justice Canada as legal counsel and negotiated settlement team lead. In that role, she represented the Government of Canada in hearings and negotiated numerous settlements. She was appointed King’s Counsel in 2013 in recognition of her contributions to the legal profession.
Ms. Young is an active contributor to the dispute‑resolution and administrative justice communities. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, ADR Institute of Alberta, ADR Institute of Canada, the Canadian Institute of Administrative Tribunals, the Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice, the Law Society of Alberta, the International Association for Conflict Management, and the Association for Conflict Resolution.
She also serves as vice‑chair of the Board of Directors of the Legal Archives Society of Alberta, supporting the preservation of Alberta’s legal history, and as a Cabinet Member with She LEADs, a Junior Achievement of Northern Alberta initiative dedicated to mentoring young women in leadership, business, and entrepreneurship.
