Level Chan is a partner at Stewart McKelvey in Halifax, Nova Scotia who acts for employers and pension and benefit plan sponsors and administrators, including for many of the largest plans in Atlantic Canada. His work has included restructuring of public and private sector plans and legislation reform. Level also regularly advises on governance, plan administration, investment, and amendment of pension and employee benefits plans and represents plans in claims such as breach of fiduciary duty and negligent misrepresentation.

Level is a past Chair of the Canadian Bar Association’s (CBA) National Pension and Benefits Law Section, past Chair of the Atlantic Regional Council of the Canadian Pension and Benefits Institute (CPBI) and a past member of the National Board of Directors of the CBA. Lexpert honoured Level as a Rising Star: Leading Lawyer Under 40 in 2016 and he is recognized in pensions and employee benefits law by Chambers and Partners and Lexpert and in labour and employment law by Best Lawyers. Level is a member of the Association of Canadian Pension Management, CPBI, International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, International Pension & Employee Benefits Lawyers Association, and Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers.

In addition to his law practice, Level is an active and keen supporter of the Atlantic Region. He is the President of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers, Atlantic Canada Chapter; the Co-Chair of the Racial Equity Committee of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society; and a member of the Board of Governors of Dalhousie University. Level has held leadership roles in community organizations such as the Halifax Chamber of Commerce and FUSION Halifax.
