Meaghen Russell is a partner in Denton’s Employment and Labour group. Meaghen’s practice centers around the provision of knowledgeable counsel on employment-related issues including: discipline and dismissals, complicated human rights issues including workplace accommodation, workplace restructuring, wrongful dismissal litigation, and employment standards claims. Meaghen is the “go-to” external counsel to many clients who rely on her expertise and strategic approach to handling both complex and routine human resources issues. She regularly drafts and updates employment contracts, workplace policies and agreements, including restrictive covenants and confidentiality agreements. She has represented clients in numerous trials, mediations and hearings before various tribunals. Meaghen regularly provides training to clients on a variety of topics including workplace accommodation and workplace violence and harassment.
Meaghen obtained a joint JD/LLB degree from the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, and was admitted to both the Ontario Bar and the Illinois Bar in 2006. Prior to practicing in Ontario, Meaghen practiced with a full-service law firm in Chicago. Her practice in Chicago involved representing both private and public sector employers in the areas of employment, labour, education law and civil rights defence.
