Mike Abbott is the Vice-President, Labour Relations at Air Canada where he oversees all aspects of union-management relations, including the grievance procedure, disciplinary process, and collective bargaining.

A graduate of Memorial University and the London School of Economics, Mike started his career in the public sector with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) and the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB). Mike also held the title of Senior Economist with the Commission for Labour Cooperation in Washington, D.C. After six years in government, Mike entered the private sector and held progressively senior roles with Nav Canada, Brink’s, and McCain Foods, where he was Vice-President – Human Resources. Mike has worked with Air Canada for over 10 years and is a member of the Board of Directors at Federally Regulated Employers – Transportation and Communications (FETCO), which represents Canada’s federally regulated employers. Mike also represents Air Canada at the Airline Personnel Directors’ Council (APDC), a consortium of international airlines focusing on labour relations, and is a member of the Conference Board of Canada’s Council of Industrial Relations Executives.
