Michael Hancock is General Counsel to United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Canada Local 1006A. Since being called to the bar in February 2002, he has practised union-side labour law as in-house counsel and at a prominent firm. He has extensive litigation experience in the public and private sectors. He has represented unions and their members in diverse workplaces and industries including construction, corrections, hospitality, healthcare, manufacturing, office/clerical, retail, and security. In addition to providing strategic advice and managing litigation, Michael regularly appears before arbitrators, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, and the Human Rights Tribunal. He has experience with presenting cases at, and acting as a nominee, in interest arbitrations. Michael was a vice-chair (part-time) of the Ontario Labour Relations Board.

Michael holds an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall and a B.A. from the University of Ottawa.
