Michael Marin, K.C. is an arbitrator, mediator, adjudicator, and law professor, currently serving as Dean of Law at the University of New Brunswick. His practice, research, and teaching focuses on all aspects of workplace law, including labour law, employment law, human rights law, and workers’ compensation. Since 2021, he has been a vice-chairperson of the New Brunswick Labour and Employment Board and between 2018 and 2021 he was a vice-chairperson of the New Brunswick Workers’ Compensation Appeals Tribunal. Fluently bilingual in French and English, Prof. Marin has been appointed to several arbitral lists. Before moving to New Brunswick in 2016, he was a faculty member at the University of Ottawa, clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada, and practised civil litigation in New York City. He holds an LL.B. from the University of Ottawa and LL.M. from the University of Cambridge, where he studied as a Gates Scholar. Prof. Marin is a member of the Law Society of New Brunswick, the Law Society of Ontario, and the New York Bar.
