Mike Vizsolyi is the Executive Director, Employee and Labour Relations for the University of British Columbia (UBC). Mike supports the strategic direction for employee and labour relations, including overseeing and negotiating eight staff collective agreements that meet the needs of our employees and the University, building employee and labour relations capacity through education tailored for our distributed HR teams and leaders, supporting the University in delivering on our mandates, key strategic plans, and policies, and continuing to build on our positive relationships with our staff unions, associations, and our internal and external stakeholders. Mike leads a team of highly-skilled professionals and experts in the areas of employment and labour law; together, they ensure effective stewardship of people in the staff employment context.
Mike is an experienced negotiator having served as a spokesperson in both the private and public sector and having acted as lead negotiator for UBC at multiple tables through successive rounds of bargaining. Mike is also a UBC alumni, and returned to the University in 2008 bringing experience in operations management, labour relations, and HR.
