Miriam Martin is a bilingual lawyer who holds the position of senior officer in the legal department at the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), in Ottawa. She provides legal advice on a variety of issues, relating to CUPE’s internal dispute resolution processes, labour relations, human rights, governance, and law reform. She has litigated as a legal and legislative representative for CUPE Ontario Region, and in private practice as a criminal defence lawyer. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Miriam was an activist and organizer in a variety of private and public sector unions.
Miriam holds a B.A. from the University of British Columbia and a J.D. from the University of Ottawa. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2015.
