Neil joined the Alberta Teachers’ Association (Association) in February 2018. He holds a BA Honours in Economics from the University of Calgary, an MA in Economics from Queen’s University, and ABD in Economics at the University of Alberta. He comes to the Association from the world of academia after teaching at the University of Alberta Augustana Campus in Camrose where he taught economics and finance. Prior to teaching at Augustana, he taught economics at the U of A campus in Edmonton, at Grande Prairie Regional College, and Red Deer College. He has also worked as an economist at the World Bank in the Operations Evaluation Department and has done consulting work in a number of areas including government and private sector.
Neil’s main role at the Association is to provide analysis and advice on matters of economics and finance to guide Teacher Employment Services (formerly Teacher Welfare) bargaining. In addition, he provides advice across the organization.
