Parm Sandhar is a Bargaining Representative with the Hospital Employees’ Union (HEU) in British Columbia. The Hospital Employees’ Union is the biggest healthcare union in B.C., with more than 60,000 members. Since 1944, HEU has advocated for better working and caring conditions and defended public health care. Parm works in the Private Sector Bargaining department and negotiates collective agreements for Independent and Assisted Living Facilities throughout the Province of British Columbia. Parm has also led negotiations in B.C.’s public sector in the transit sector. Parm’s experience in Labour Relations/Human Resources spans approximately 18 years, he started his professional career working on the employer-side labour relations/human resources and later transitioned to working union-side staff representative roles and now presently a Bargaining Representative. Parm is a sessional instructor at Kwantlen Polytechnic University where he teaches a 4th year Labour Relations class in the Bachelor of Business Administration degree program. Parm received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Human Resources Management from Kwantlen Polytechnic University (2007), a Master’s of Industrial Relations Degree from Queen’s University (2013), and a Chartered Professional in Human Resources Designation from Chartered Professionals Human Resources of British Columbia (2009).
