Rory Gill has worked in the public sector with the City of Calgary since 1997. He first joined the City as a seasonal parks labourer and worked in several different classifications and was promoted to Parks Foreman in 2000.

In 2006, Rory started to became active in his local, CUPE 709 – the Calgary Civic Foremen’s Union, beginning his work with the Local as a job steward. 

After serving in different executive positions with CUPE 709, Rory was elected president of the local in 2014. 

I’m 2016 Rory was elected to the Executive of CUPE Alberta Division to help with its work promoting the work of CUPE members and protecting public services in Alberta. He was elected president of CUPE Alberta Division in 2019.

Rory was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and came to Canada with his family as a child. He grew up in Calgary, where he lives with his partner. He is the proud father of three children.
